Soleco and Costa Charcuterie Realize the Largest Solar Self-Consumption Installation in Corsica

A pillar of Corsican local products and a showcase of island food traditions, Costa Charcuterie has equipped its roofs with a photovoltaic installation connected to the High Voltage 20 kV (HTA) network, in order to cover, with the sun's course, its current electrical needs.

The plant, with an area of 1700 m² for 350 kWc of installed power, will produce between 400,000 and 450,000 kWh per year. The project is the result of a state tender in the French islands, implemented by the Energy Regulation Commission, of which Costa Charcuterie was the winner.

Designed to operate for at least 30 years, with a 25-year performance guarantee for the sensors, the installation aims to reduce fixed electricity supply costs, promote a decarbonized economy, and contribute to the collective resolution of current energy difficulties.

Built by Soleco, an island pioneer in the solar energy sector since 1982, and commissioned by EDF teams, the plant is the largest photovoltaic self-consumption installation in Corsica. It will allow daily self-production, while delivering unused surplus energy to the public network, thus contributing to the electrical supply of households in the north of the island.

According to Camille Costa, head of the Charcuterie, "This collaborative approach, at the heart of the island's choices in favor of renewable energies, outlines a model of short circuits, solidarity economy and sustainable development. This is our way, and the voice of Corsica in the new economy of tomorrow".
